Happy Monday everyone! 🗓️
It has been quite a week for AI, but not the greatest week for me.
Anyway, let's get into it! 👇
What’s Been Cooking
Amazon Launches GenAI Platform Bedrock 🤖
Amazon announced this week that its AI platform, Bedrock, has gone live. This platform enables users to access GenAI models from Amazon and other third-party vendors, like Meta’s Llama 2.
Bedrock allows AWS users to build apps and models using these GenAI models and customise them with personal data. It's basically one big GenAI service.
There appears to be a "who's bigger?" contest among big tech companies to around their AI capabilities. In my opinion, it’s good to see this competition, as it will likely foster more growth and innovation, rather than one company dominating the AI space.
Meta Creating AI Chatbots With Personality 🕺
Meta is currently developing dozens of chatbots with specialised purposes and with their own personalities for their various messaging services, including WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger.
While these chatbots are still in the development phase, it's worth noting that some major celebrities, such as Snoop Dogg and Kendall Jenner, are quite keen on this prospect and agreed to “lend” their personalities to some of these bots.
A key point to highlight is that Zuck said "This isn't just going to be about answering queries," but rather “This is about entertainment." Reading between the lines, this seems to be another method to keep us engaged with these apps.

Insider Insights
It's only a bad day, not a bad life.
This week wasn't my best. I found myself getting up late, struggling to concentrate, and, in general, not being as productive as I usually am. Now, we can't always expect to be at our best because where's the fun in that?
I once heard the quote, "A bad day does not equal a bad week," or something along those lines. I remind myself of this when things aren't going well. There will be times when everything doesn't go as planned, but these are ‘localised’ incidents. It's important to have a global perspective and remember that one rough period doesn't equate to your entire life being bad!
Reading, Listening & Everything Else!
🎬 YouTube - Egor Howell. I am really getting into my YouTube rhythm, this week I uploaded two videos in my time series course: Autocorrelation & Partial Autocorrelation.
🎙️ Podcast - Lex Fridman Podcast: Mark Zuckerberg, First Interview in the Metaverse. Need I say more? The metaverse is here!
🧪 Research Paper - AlphaDev. This week, I presented DeepMind’s AlphaDev paper. AlphaDev is their reinforcement agent that improved sorting algorithms on the assembly language level. The most interesting part of this paper is how they framed the problem, which is often the hardest part of any data science problem.
📝 Blog - Write Professional Equations in Python — Latexify. Getting a promotion is great. But do you know what’s better? Combining Python and LaTeX.
