Happy Monday everyone! ☕️
I am writing this week’s edition from the sunny Balearic island of Mallorca. Can’t lie, it is very nice! 😀🇪🇸
Anyway, lets get into it! 👇
What’s Been Cooking
Apple’s Annual Event 🍎
Apple held its annual conference this Tuesday, unveiling some big changes to its products. The main one is that the new iPhone 15 will now use a USB-C charging cable instead of the current lightning cable to comply with EU regulations.
The new iPhones will come with brighter screens and better cameras. Additionally, the iPhone Pro and Pro Max models will now have a titanium frame to improve their durability. There were also new improvements and versions to the Apple Watch and AirPods.
To be honest, there was nothing groundbreaking about the event nor has there been for the past couple of years. Apple is dominating the consumer market, so there is little need for them to change up their strategy.
Coca Cola Producing A New Flavour Generated By AI 🥤
Coke has introduced a new flavor called Y3000, whose taste and packaging were heavily influenced by AI. The AI combined Coke’s original flavor with flavors that consumers resonate with as the ‘future’. The packaging was inspired by an AI-generated mood board and is really giving me Space Odyssey vibes.
AI for food production is something we haven’t seen or heard a lot of during this hype period. So, It will be interesting to see if it can truly be used to design great tasting products that consumers would love. We will need to wait and see if this Y3000 takes off (we might be waiting to the year 300)!

Insider Insights
On Tuesday, I attended the Operational Research Society conference at the University of Bath. It was an amazing experience with some truly special work going on in the fields of Forecasting, Combinatorial Optimisation, and Logistics. However, it also showed me how truly little I know about these areas, and how much there is to learn to reach the level of expertise demonstrated by the presenters.
But, it is important to remember that these industry leaders and professors have dedicated their careers to these topics, and even they don't possess all-encompassing knowledge. They just have really specialist knowledge about one area in one domain. My advice to anyone who finds themselves in this mindset is not to worry, as there's always more to learn, and it's impossible to become an expert in everything. Just enjoy the learning journey!
