Good morning, friends! ☀️
This newsletter is coming from Florence, Italy! 🇮🇹
I highly recommend it to those of you who haven’t visited it. The weather hasn’t been the best, but I still enjoyed swanning through coffee shops and galleries. Anyway, that’s enough for my holiday!
Being away these last couple of days has changed my perspective on quite a few things.
Living in London is one of the most hectic places in the world, and everyone is always doing something. Even though Florence is still a big city, the pace of life is noticeably slower.
I am not sure what it is, but recently, I have felt like I have been going 100 mph in a lot of directions. I don’t think there is anything wrong with moving quickly; in fact, doing loads of reps in anything is how you become competent.
However, constantly operating at this speed does lead to exhaustion, which is where I was heading.
I quite idealize slow productivity and doing more with less.
There is a famous principle called the Pareto Principle, which states that 80% of the results come from 20% of the effort. We see this everywhere, from investing to wealth distribution to YouTube videos!
Why do I mention this? Many successful people have the same amount of time but use this principle to get more output from their input.
So, to slow down, I will try to find the 20% of the efforts that give me the majority of the results. Sure, I may not get 100%, but I am currently only one person doing many things.
At the moment, I don't know what these 20% of things are, but hopefully, I can find them.
I also encourage you to find the 20% of things in your life that bring you 80% of the outcomes and try to use it to your advantage!
Weekly Favourites ❤️
📩 Newsletter — Agora. I very much look forward to every week to read an edition of this newsletter. It is quite diverse in the topics that
covers, but the main themes revolve around tech, economics and science.🎙️ Podcast — Luke Belmar: How To Create a Better Life For Yourself. Some people may not like him, and he does have some controversial opinions, but I find Luke Belmar exciting to listen to, mainly his takes on crypto and finance.
✏️ Article — The Math Behind Recurrent Neural Networks. Cristian’s writing on Medium goes against the grain with long, deep mathematical posts on machine learning algorithms. This one is my favorite so far.
